Energy Centre
Twenty-two of these energy centres are scattered around the site of Expo 2010, and Broad builds and supports every one of them — a testimony of our dedication to a low-carbon expo.
Non-electric Air Conditioner
Broad is an advocate of non-electric air conditioner, which generates cool air from heat directly, without the inefficient energy conversion process of traditional air conditioners. If the 800-thousand ㎡ site of Shanghai Expo adopts only gas-powered non-electric machines, it’s gonna save up to 40,000 tons CO2 — equal to the amount that would have costed 4 million trees to absorb. In other words, we are virtually covering all eight Expo sites with forrest.
Heat Recycling
We are strong believers of heat-recycling air purifiers, which recycle 90% of heat energy during ventilation. If the whole site of Shanghai Expo adopts this type of machines, it’s gonna reduce the CO2 emission by 16,000 tons — in other word, this is equal to covering three of the eight Expo sites with forrest.
Our Ultimate Wish
Broad’s ultimate wish is that there are less air conditioner in the world. We believe the optimal way of adjusting temperature is to focus on heat insulation by architectural means, so as to reduce the energy load of air conditioners. A comprehensive system of heat insulation would reduce the CO2 emission by 50,000 – 80,000 tons — the equivalent of covering a dozen of Expo sites!

At Broad, we’ve always been dedicated to non-electric air conditioning and heat-recycling air purifying. We fully support a low-carbon Expo.
